Popular Mexican restaurant announces new Central Coast spot — this time in downtown SLO

A Mexican restaurant with three Central Coast locations will open its fourth spot in downtown San Luis Obispo, its owners announced Wednesday.

According to a Facebook post, Efren’s is in the process of expanding to a new location in the Downtown Centre. It will take over ths pace previously occupied by Tortilla Town, which abruptly closed in December.

“We can’t wait to welcome you to enjoy your favorite dishes, tacos and more at our new spot, coming soon,” the post read. “Stay tuned for the grand opening date and get ready for delicious flavors and great company in our fresh new space!”

The new spot at 892 Marsh St. will be the Central Coast restaurant’s fourth permanent location overall, and its second in San Luis Obispo.

The family also operates Efren’s restaurants at 1720 Beach St. in Oceano, 1625 South Blosser Road in Santa Maria and 1285 Laurel Lane in San Luis Obispo.

A request for comment on the new location was not immediately returned Friday.
