GameStop is closing in SLO. What about other SLO County stores?

A San Luis Obispo video game store is closing later this month.

GameStop will close Jan. 24 at 487 Madonna Road, Suite 4, in the SLO Promenade shopping center, according to a store representative.

The company did not give a reason for the store’s closure. And it’s unclear how long it has been open in San Luis Obispo.

GameStop specializes in video games, collectibles and consoles such as the Sony PlayStation, Microsoft XBox and Nintendo Switch gaming systems.

As of Friday, GameStop was currently offering sales of 40% to 60% off, and discounts will become progressively bigger closer to its final day, the store representative said.

According to the representative, the San Luis Obispo store is open noon through 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

GameStop locations in Arroyo Grande and in Paso Robles will remain open and customers can order store products online.

The GameStop chain is headquartered in Grapevine, Texas, with stores worldwide.
