Want to support SLO businesses? City launches virtual shopping guide
The city of San Luis Obispo recently launched a new online resource for residents who want to shop safety as they shelter at home in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The SLO Virtual Shopping Map is available on the city’s COVID-19 webpage and “showcases safe, online shopping options” with choices at more than 100 local businesses, according to SLO officials.
The city released a SLO Take-out/Delivery map in late March that includes listings from more than 150 restaurants in SLO.
“We have received tremendous feedback on the recently launched online restaurant map and we have now created a similar resource for local retail outlets with online stores,” city manager Derek Johnson said in a news release.
Both maps are available on the city’s website and are being shared via social media, encouraging community members to check out the offerings.
Businesses not already on the resource map can join by completing an online form.
SLO offers online business resources
The city is also supporting local businesses with online resources and access to city services that can help them weather the economic storm.
“The Business Resource section on the city’s COVID-19 website provides a comprehensive listing of important links and information to assist businesses with navigating the shelter at home order and accessing financial assistance,” San Luis Obispo officials said. “There is also a business resource toolkit with informational signage for businesses to use to ensure compliance with physical distancing requirements.”
San Luis Obispo officials will continue to process housing and infrastructure project planning while following necessary safety guidelines.
And the city’s Community Development Department has implemented a variety of online options “to support essential services and economic recovery through timely permit processing including online application submittals and payment.”
