SLO County business owners: Politicians want to hear your opinions on taxes, health care, more

San Luis Obispo County business owners will have the chance to voice their opinions on issues affecting their businesses in an upcoming nonpartisan event organized by the National Association of Women Business Owners.

Businesses will be live-polled on four main topics impacting small businesses: health care, access to capital, taxes and federal procurement.

Local, state and federal representatives and their aides are expected to be in attendance to take note of the conversation to take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Monday Club at 1815 Monterey St. in San Luis Obispo. The association will moderate the event.

The following elected officials are expected to attend: County Supervisor Lynn Compton, San Luis Obispo Councilmember Aaron Gomez, Pismo Beach Mayor Ed Waage, Paso Robles Mayor Steve Martin, Arroyo Grande Mayor Jim Hill, Atascadero Mayor Tom O’Malley and Morro Bay Mayor Jamie Irons.

The aides expected to attend are: Caitlin Cox (Congressman Salud Carbajal’s office), Annie Aguiniga (Senator Bill Monning’s office) and Keilah Smith (Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham’s office).

“This is truly an opportunity for business owners to speak out on how they are feeling, what’s working and what needs attention, in order to strengthen communication between public policy and business,” said Amy Collins, public policy chair with the Central Coast Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners, in a statement.

The target audience is business owners, but anyone is welcome to attend. Tickets cost $25.
