Mullahey Chrysler customers in Paso Robles will soon have more room to park to get their vehicles serviced.
The dealership, located at the corner of Tractor Street and Golden Hill Road, is planning a parking expansion into a 1.8-acre neighboring lot, according to a city staff report. The city Planning Commission approved the expansion on Tuesday night.
Mullahey Chrysler opened its Paso Robles location in 2015 and needs more room due to the popularity of its service department. Its parking area is now too small, forcing customers and staff to park their vehicles on the street and in a vacant dealership-owned lot, according to documents included in the staff report.
“Right now, it’s an awkward situation because he has more business than he can handle with the cars,” said Larry Werner, a land development specialist for North Coast Engineering, at the meeting.

The new lot would be located north of the dealership, near Danley Court. An access easement would connect the lot to the road, providing an entrance for employees.
The parking lot parcel will be subdivided into two chunks — a smaller part will be used for the parking lot with the other part to remain vacant for future development.
“It is great to see a Paso Robles business thrive,” Werner said.
