Shannon Koester, who has been general manager of Gus’s Grocery in San Luis Obispo for 16 years, is now the deli’s new owner.
She took over the store at 1638 Osos St. in May from longtime proprietor Mike Stanton.
“I know the clientele, I know the business and it was the right next step,” Koester said.
For now, Koester said, she doesn’t plan to make any significant changes to the business, located by the city’s train station and popular with the Cal Poly student crowd. The store has 19 employees.
