Photos | Santa Cruz Shakespeare cast prepares for ‘Macbeth'
While the set is built, and lighting and sound apparatus are installed at Audrey Stanley Grove in DeLaveaga Park, Santa Cruz Shakespeare actors are rehearsing at Pacific Collegiate School in Santa Cruz. The costume and props shops are also being run at Pacific Collegiate until all operations shift to the grove. Being performed in repertoire this season alongside "Macbeth" is Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing," "Fences" by August Wilson, "Private Lives" by Noël Coward and Jason Robert Brown's musical "The Last Five Years." "Macbeth" has been performed locally by the company, and its previous incarnation, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, four previous times - in 1983, 1992, 2001 and 2015. The 2026 season opens with a preview of "Much Ado About Nothing" on July 11 and continues through Oct. 4. Santa Cruz Shakespeare continues more than four decades of staging bold productions of the plays of Shakespeare and other great playwrights and hundreds of thousands of people, young and old, have been treated to their theatrical magic in those years.
