Apparent BART train collision with person shuts down Walnut Creek station
WALNUT CREEK — An apparent collision between a BART train and a person Monday morning caused the closure of BART’s Walnut Creek station and interrupted service on the system’s Yellow Line, officials said.
The station re-opened about 11:20 a.m., BART spokesperson MIchelle Robertson said. All 50 stations were opened.
Robertson said that the initial belief that is person entered the tracks and may have been hit by a train. That person went by ambulance to a hospital. There was no information on that person’s condition immediately.
Robertson said the Yellow Line was closed from Lafayette to the Pleasant Hill station in both directions. The Yellow Line runs from Antioch to the San Francisco International Airport.
The closure lasted about an hour. BART announced its closure at 10:30 a.m.
No other details were available immediately.
