Man dies after boat crashes into shoreline on Shasta Lake
A 47-year-old man died when a boat crashed into the shoreline on Shasta Lake in Northern California, authorities said.
Three people were boating on the Sulanharas Creek arm of Shasta Lake when their vessel struck the shoreline around 5 p.m. Thursday, ejecting the operator and two passengers, according to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office.
Boaters on another vehicle took the three victims - a man, a woman and a child - to Bridge Bay Marina. The man and the child were taken to a local hospital, where the man, identified as Vingenzo Anthony Colletti of Palo Cedro (Shasta County), died.
Sheriff's deputies investigating the crash believe the child was wearing a personal flotation device when the boat crashed, but the two adult passengers were not. The sheriff's office reminded boaters to make sure they have adequate safety equipment with them when on the water.
