Volunteers in San Jose and Livermore marked veterans' graves with American flags over the weekend ahead of Memorial Day, continuing a familiar tradition across Bay Area cemeteries. Scouts moved through Oak Hill Cemetery in San Jose on Saturday, placing flags beside veterans' headstones. In Livermore, Young Men's Service League volunteers did the same at Memory Garden Cemetery and St. Michael's Cemetery. By Monday, rows of red, white, and blue stood in the grass beside names, dates, and military service etched in stone, honoring those remembered on Memorial Day.
