More than 3,000 people are without power in Seaside after two electric poles came down.

Around 3:45 p.m. Saturday, an electrical pole snapped from the bottom of the pole and crashed into a car on San Pablo Avenue, bringing down another pole next to it.

Power was out for 3,361 people in Seaside as of 4:45 p.m. Saturday.

A man and his family were nearby at the Seaside Garden Center when the poles fell.

“No one touched it, there was no wind, it just snapped,” he said.

Seaside police officers said one wooden pole likely broke because it was rotted and brought the other pole down by the power lines.

The entrance to San Pablo Avenue from Fremont Boulevard was blocked off while PG&E worked in the area.
