Here are some pet-related events coming up in SLO County

Here’s a look at upcoming pet-related events in San Luis Obispo County:

Pups in the Park

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Jody Giannini Family Dog Park invites the public to enjoy food, fun and dog games. Activities include New Life K-9’s service dog training and SLODOG’s agility and obedience demonstrations. Dogs must be on a leash. Event takes place at the picnic grounds at Del Mar Park in Morro Bay. Free. 805-235-1924.

Olympic Adoption Special

Go for the gold at Woods Humane Society and take home an Olympian with an adoption special — adopt a champion dog or cat for $50 through Sunday. All dogs and cats are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and microchipped. Each adoption includes a free veterinary health exam.

Mardi Gras for Paws

The fifth annual Animals In Need fundraiser is 3 to 8 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Edwards Barn in Nipomo, 1095 Pomeroy Road. Dinner, drinks, entertainment, live and silent auctions and a dessert auction. Tickets are $55 per person and are available at www.ainfund.org.

Animals in Need Fund is a nonprofit created to address the growing need to rescue, treat and place ownerless cats and dogs in the greater South County.

Kelsey See Canyon Winemaker Vineyard Dog Walk and Barbecue

11 a.m. Aug. 28. Wine-tasting dog walk through the vineyards with Keith Kelsey and Winemaker Jac Wyn Jacobs. After the walk, enjoy music, wine, cider and a barbecue.

Tickets are $35 and available at www.kelseywine.com, under the events tab. Kelsey See Canyon Vineyards is at 1947 See Canyon Road in San Luis Obispo.

Proceeds benefit the animals of Woods Humane Society and will be directed toward the shelter’s Crystal Fund.

Kittens ready for adoption

The Feline Network has many kittens available for adoption. Adopt-a-Cats are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. most Saturdays at Petco in the Madonna Shopping Center in San Luis Obispo.

Kittens have been spayed or neutered, tested, vaccinated and are ready to go. You can see some of them online at www.felinenetwork.org, or call 805-549-9228, ext. 701, for more information about adoptable kittens. Adoption fee is $60 for one kitten and $80 for two.

The Feline Network’s central mission is to curb cat overpopulation, and it assists with spaying and neutering stray cats as well as trapping feral cats living in San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, Los Osos and the South County areas, including Nipomo. Spay/neuter vouchers are available for people who need financial help and reside in these areas. The vouchers are worth $60 toward a spay and $40 toward a neuter and can be redeemed at vet offices countywide. To obtain a voucher, call 805-549-9228, ext.707.
