Here’s a look at upcoming pet-related events in San Luis Obispo County:

Baby Shower and Kitten Cuddle

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 28. Do you want to cuddle with a kitten or two? Mark your calendar for the North County Humane Society’s third annual Baby Shower and Kitten Cuddle.

To celebrate this occasion, the kitten area will be decorated, and cookies, cake and “paw perfect” cupcakes will be served. To be entered into a drawing for a “Thank You” gift basket, bring one of the following items for the kittens: paper towels, baby blankets, heating pads (no automatic shut-off) and kitten baby bottles, or make a donation toward the purchase of Breeder’s Edge kitten formula.

North County Humane Society, 2300 Ramona Road, Atascadero. 805-466-5403.

Paws to Read

11 a.m. to noon. May 28. Visiting children can read aloud to a therapy dog. The dogs’ handlers are always present. Arroyo Grande Library, 800 W. Branch St. Free. 805-473-7161.

$5 fix to prevent unwanted litters of kittens

Mayday, mayday! Help prevent unwanted litters of kittens and reduce cat overpopulation. For the month of May only, San Luis Obispo County residents can have their feline family members fixed for just $5.

A San Luis Obispo County Animal Services and Woods Humane Society partnership is making this possible. Funds are limited, so call now to make an appointment — 805-543-9316 ext. 10. Only spots for male cats are left.

If you have stories or photos of your furry, feathered or scaly friend, please send them to pettales@thetribunenews.com or Pet Tales, c/o The Tribune, P.O. Box 112, San Luis Obispo, CA 93406.
