’Tis the season to adopt a cat in SLO County

Here are a couple pet-related events happening in San Luis Obispo County.

December Adoption Special at HART

December is “Bring Us Home During the Holidays” month at Homeless Animal Rescue Team (HART) in Cambria. All cats and kittens are available for a special adoption fee of $25. The fee includes spay/neuter, up-to-date vaccinations, micro-chip, flea treatment and a post-adoption vet examination.

If you aren’t able to adopt, consider giving a Guardian Angel Certificate as a special holiday gift. The certificates are available in any amount of $5 or more. The recipient receives a printed certificate stating that you have made a donation in their name to the HART Guardian Angel Fund. Your gift will help save the life of a homeless cat or kitten in need of urgent medical care.

Guardian Angel Certificates can be purchased by calling HART at 927-7377, or by visiting the HART office at 2638 Main St. in Cambria, from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Learn more about HART at its website,, or follow the group on Facebook at “SLO HART.”

Adopt-a-cat in SLO

The Feline Network of the Central Coast has teenage and adult cats available for adoption. The cats have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated and tested for leukemia and FIV. Many of the cats can be seen online at

This is the time of year to focus on spaying and neutering to prevent the birth of numerous litters of kittens in the spring.
