Monica the border collie mix is looking for her forever family. Help her find a home

When shelters around the country are experiencing low adoption rates, it doesn’t matter how cute, playful or downright charming a homeless dog may be.

This is especially true for dogs that aren’t a high-demand breed or designer mix.

It’s uncertain whether Monica, a 2-year-old border collie-pitbull mix, will ever find a home.

Even after six months at the San Luis Obispo County Animal Services shelter, however, Monica isn’t worried. She believes every moment has the potential for greatness.

She believes every person who comes to her kennel will give her a treat. As a reward for their generosity, she wags her tail in hopes of a walk or more treats.

Once out of her kennel, Monica impresses with her love of chasing balls and her dawning understanding of fetch. This enthusiastic pup believes a high-five celebration is in order every time she brings the ball back.

Monica rides well in a car. She also likes to go for walks and has done well strolling downtown or hiking trails.

She is happy to meet new people of all ages.

Because Monica is treat-motivated, she’s fun to train and has already learned some basic commands.

Monica loves to be loved. If given the chance, she’ll climb into your lap to give you kisses.

More than anything else, Monica’s looking for a family where love is forever and always.
