Yerba the tabby cat lost an eye after being hit by a car. He’s ready for a loving home

Finding lifelong love — especially when you’re young, handsome and affectionate — should be a breeze.

Sadly, that hasn’t been the case for Yerba.

Like many social stray cats, it’s likely Yerba was adopted when he was an adorable kitten. Then, less than a year later, the male tabby cat was abandoned to fend for himself.

The life of an outdoor cat is dangerous. There are predators, cars and the threat of starvation. Thankfully, the Cal Poly Cat Program rescued Yerba, who’s now ready to find a loving home.

Street life for Yerba was not without consequences.

His treating veterinarian believes Yerba was hit by a car. Although lucky to be alive, Yerba’s right eye couldn’t be saved.

Happily, Yerba seems unaware of the loss. He plays and jumps just as before – though, for his safety, Yerba needs to be an indoor-only kitty.

Yerba would jump at the chance to be a loving house cat. He’s extremely friendly with people, but not fond of other cats.

Being one of the most affectionate feline companions out there, Yerba has more than enough love to make you happy.

Yerba is the quintessential lap cat who’s making up for lost time and looking for love.

All he needs is a lifelong home.

Yerba is available for adoption via the Cal Poly Cat Program, a nonprofit organization of students, faculty, staff and community members who care about the health and happiness of both feral and domesticated cats.
