Nick the Staffordshire terrier longs to be a ‘laidback pal.’ Help him find a new home
Some are born to be leaders, others to enjoy the ride.
Nick is a compact, 8-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier whose laidback attitude makes him easy to like.
Though born with a positive attitude, Nick has overcome the hardship of homelessness not once, but three times.
First, he was a homeless puppy who was adopted from the San Luis Obispo County Animal Services shelter.
Unfortunately, Nick came back to the shelter after a year because his owner had fallen on hard times and couldn’t afford to keep Nick. This adopter reported Nick’s good with cats, children and other dogs.
Once again, Nick was adopted. This time he enjoyed a stable home life for seven years.
Recently a toddler joined the household, which resulted in Nick becoming a backyard dog. He was then surrendered to the shelter.
Even with all this loss, Nick continues to impress everyone with his cheerful disposition.
He walks well on a leash, knows his basic obedience and is ready to sit or lay down on command, especially if treats are involved.
Nick likes going for walks, at whatever pace you want to go.
He interacts well with other shelter dogs and enjoys meeting new people. That makes him a good candidate for someone looking to adopt a four-legged family member with cafe companion potential.
Nick is easygoing yet he appreciates toys and loves playing tug-of-war.
Whether couch potato or copilot, Nick’s ready to become someone’s lifelong, laidback canine pal.
For more information about Nick (ID No. 197991), call the volunteer line at the San Luis Obispo County Animal Services shelter at 805-781-4400 or visit www.slocounty.ca.gov/aserv. The shelter is located at 885 Oklahoma Ave., off Highway 1, in San Luis Obispo.
The full-price adoption fee is $81 for cats and $115 for dogs, plus a $28 county license fee for dogs, if the adopters are San Luis Obispo County residents.
The adoption fee includes a new collar, a spay or neuter operation, basic vaccinations, a microchip and eligibility for a free veterinary check within San Luis Obispo County. Cats also are tested for feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus, and adopters receive a carrier.
