Copper the one-eyed ‘pirate kitty’ is looking for a forever home

Argh, this little kitty, she be different, matey.

Copper was a wee homeless kitten — too young to be motherless, yet living a pirate’s life under a dumpster and fending for herself.

Over time, a young woman gained the kitten’s trust with kindness and wet cat food, and saved Copper’s life.

While living her dangerous outdoor life, Copper developed a severe eye infection which quickly worsened. So, for the kitten’s sake, Copper was surrendered to Woods Humane Society.

Woods’ veterinarian determined that the eye couldn’t be saved but Copper could still have a quality life.

Now this one-eyed, pirate kitty is pain-free — joyfully running, playing with toys and building her social skills with other cats and people.

Given her rough and lonely start, trust must be earned over time with kindness and food. Once she trusts you, she’ll purr endlessly for the joy of being petted.

With other felines, Copper currently keeps herself safe by growling softly, letting them know she’s a brave girl. But this bravado relaxes as she discovers they’re not a threat.

Surprisingly, she appears less afraid of cat-friendly dogs.

Copper’s ready for a lifelong home. Fortunately one-eyed pirate kitties lead long, happy lives with no long-term health issues.

However, Copper’s depth perception and the ability to sense a nearby predator is reduced, so it’d be best if she stays an indoor-only kitty.

Are ye looking for a feline first mate? This shipshape kitten’s looking for a cat-fancying captain to love.
