Morro Bay Harbor Festival: October 6-7
Lighted Boat Parade: December 1
Boats of all shapes and sizes -- from sailboats, to cruisers to kayaks -- doll up in bright, festive lights and fantasy forms to transform the dark bay into a glittering showcase of holiday spirit. The boats cruise the Embarcadero from Morro Rock to Tidelands Park, passing waving spectators. Free. 805-772-4467
Winter Bird Festival: January 18-21, 2008
Every year on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, more than 500 birders converge on Morro Bay for more than 100 events, including trips on the bay, pelagic trips, whole- and half-day field trips on land, Morro Bay Natural History Museum events, guest speakers, self-guided tours and vendors. More than 200 species are typically sighted. Registration is subject to available space. Morro Bay Kite Festival and Parade: April 28
A parade, tons of kites, arts and crafts, food vendors, all around the Rock. Find information at morrobaykitefestivalevent.com
Miracle Miles for Kids: April 27
An annual benefit for foster and high-needs children and families. Course runs from the water's edge in Morro Bay to the Cayucos pier. For more information, visit mm4k.com
