Paso Robles winery earns top awards at London competition
A Paso Robles winery earned top honors at an international wine competition in London this year.
Le Vigne Winery was named U.S. Winery of the Year at the 2026 London Wine Competition and received four gold medals, including a top award for its Acquarello Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, according to a news release on April 29.
The Acquarello Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve was named U.S. Wine of the Year. The three other gold medals went to Le Vigne’s sauvignon blanc, petit verdot and cabernet sauvignon.
The London Wine Competition evaluates wines based on quality, value and packaging, with an emphasis on how wines perform in the marketplace, organizers said.
“The authority of a London Wine Competition award comes from the quality of the judges, the rigor of the process, and the fact that it reflects what consumers and buyers actually want. We’re thrilled that Le Vigne performed so well,” Phillip Anderson, general manager of Le Vigne Winery, said in the news release.
Le Vigne, a family-owned winery, has been producing wine in Paso Robles since the early 1980s and focuses on Bordeaux, Rhône and Italian varietals.
The competition includes judging by wine buyers, sommeliers and industry professionals, who evaluate entries through blind tastings before factoring in pricing and presentation, according to the release.
In an email to The Tribune, Anderson also noted that within the last year, Le Vigne has also won Winery of the Year in the Central Coast Wine Competition and Paso Robles Winery of the Year from the New York International Wine Competition.
“That’s a strong affirmation for our approach to grape growing and wine making,” he said.
Le Vigne Winery is located at 5115 Buena Vista Drive near the Paso Robles Municipal Airport. It’s open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
