SLO County named one of the best wine destinations in California
San Luis Obispo County is known to locals and tourists alike for its rolling hills of vineyards and family-owned wineries — making it a popular destination for lovers of a good glass of wine.
A new study released this week ranked San Luis Obispo County as one of the best wine destinations in California.
Lawn-care company Lawn Starter ranked SLO County third in the state, defeated only by Sonoma and Napa Counties, the news release said.
The company compared California’s 58 counties based on wine quality, access, accolades, entertainment and accommodations, according to a news release. Each county got a score in each category, which were then used to decide its final score, the company said.
SLO County had an overall ranking of 52.37 points, with its highest rank in entertainment, followed by accolades, quality, access and finally accommodations, according to the news release. The county was also recognized as one of the most “tour-friendly” wine spots in California, the company said.
Napa County won 72.27 total points, while Sonoma County won 65.86 points, according to the release.
