Wild Fields Brewhouse, a downtown Atascadero brewery, was a dream eight years in the making for craft beer couple Ryan and Jacque Fields.

“We wanted our space to replicated what the beer industry has been to us and honor that rich history,” Jacque Fields said in a news release. “This industry has given us a sense of place and belonging and also allowed us to meet so many amazing people and grow our knowledge.”

Wild Fields Brewhouse had a soft opening on Nov. 22 at 6907 El Camino Real in Atascadero, and held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Jan. 10, according to the release.

“Anyone who has taken on opening a business knows it is a challenge,” Fields said. “We just wanted to gradually open and give our team the opportunity to grow.”

The brewpub offers more than 15 craft beers on tap as well as rotating cider and wine selections and locally brewed non-alcoholic craft beer, according to the release.

The menu features a variety of pub food favorites ranging from mac and cheese to bratwursts. It also offers plant-based options, including Beyond Meat sausages and a house-made carrot dog.

Fields said Wild Fields Brewhouse is an all-inclusive space meant to help the community to come together. The family-friendly eatery has two miniature bowling lanes, called rollerball lanes, plus an arcade and a toddler corner.

Fields, who sits on the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce board of directors, said the community has been very supportive of the brewpub.

Although Wild Fields Brewpub is their first business, the Fields aren’t new to the craft beer scene or the Central Coast. Both Jacque and Ryan Fields have both been in the craft beer industry for 11 years, according to the release.

Ryan Fields, an award-winning brewer and award winner, began home brewing when he moved from Templeton to attend UC San Diego in 2008.

Eventually, the Central Coast native worked his way up to head brewer and blender at Beachwood Blendery in Long Beach, where he met his wife.

Jacque Fields joined the brew community when a part-time job turned into an assistant manager position at Beachwood BBQ, she told The Tribune in 2018. She went on to become the executive director of the Orange County Brewers Guild before moving to Atascadero, according to the brewpub’s website.

After having two children, Jacque Fields said the two wanted to root themselves in Atascadero. They began working to open Wild Fields Brewhouse in 2018.

“Craft beer is about relationships and community, and Atascadero just made perfect sense for us,” Fields said in the release.

Wild Fields Brewhouse is open 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
