L’Aventure Winery founder honored by Paso Robles winery association
Stephan Asseo of L’Aventure Winery has been named the 2014 Paso Robles Wine Industry Person of the Year.
Asseo founded L’Aventure Winery with his wife, Beatrice Asseo, in Paso Robles in 1998 after owning several wineries in the Bordeaux region of France. He built the 127-acre winery in Paso with the purpose of creating “world-class wines of Bordeaux and Rhone varieties,” according to a news release from the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance.
“I was proud,” Asseo said of winning the local association’s industry award. “The proof of being elected the industry man of the year — the great honor of being recognized by the nice community of Paso — means the people recognize my part in putting the area on the map.”
In 2007, Asseo was named the San Luis Obispo County Winemaker of the Year. He is a past board member of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance.
Asseo was recognized at the Paso Robles Wine County Alliance’s annual winter gala, the Rubber Boot Ball, on Feb. 6.
The Alliance also recently announced its 2015 Board of Directors: Chairman Jason Haas, Tablas Creek Vineyard; Vice Chairman Austin Hope, Treana and Hope Family Wines; Treasurer Matt Dusi, Ranch 7; Joe Barton, Grey Wolf & Barton Family Wines; Carl Bowker, Caliza Winery; Greg O’Quest, French Camp Vineyards; Joe Plummer, Plummer Vineyard; Bob Tillman, Alta Colina Vineyard & Winery; and Amanda Wittstrom-Higgins, Wittstrom Family Vineyard.
