New bar and distillery inspired by California set to open in SLO Public Market. Here’s when
A new distillery, bar and restaurant is slated to open next month at San Luis Obispo Public Market at Bonetti Ranch.
Rambling Spirits — an establishment “born from its founders’ love for California” — will hold its soft opening on Oct. 7, according to a news release sent Wednesday.
Husband-and-wife team Jon Carpenter and Ariette Armella said they wanted to “present something that is more than just a distillery.”
“The Rambling Spirits project is an ode to their home state and its people,” the release said of the pair. “The project will celebrate the small pauses we take to wander around and appreciate our surroundings, whether while surfing, hiking, or simply enjoying the moment (with a drink in hand) after a hard day of work.”
According to the release, Rambling Spirits distills spirits inspired and sourced by its surroundings and is born from its founders’ years of experience in the beverage industry.
Carpenter, a UC Davis graduate, has worked in the beverage and service industry for 20 years, according to the release, and during that time oversaw the construction of “several large- and small-scale beverage facilities, created recipes for several beverage brands and developed new processes for projects across North America.”
Armella worked as a photographer and journalist collaborating with lifestyle and culinary magazines, as well as internationally renowned chefs and restaurants, for more than a decade, according to the release.
She also serves as the communications and public relations manager for the Mexican Brewers Association.
Beyond drinks, the new establishment will also offer small bites.
Rambling Spirits is located at 3845 S Higuera St. in San Luis Obispo.
