San Luis Obispo is one of the best ‘foodie cities’ in the U.S., Yelp list says

Yelp has named San Luis Obispo one of the 10 best “foodie cities” in the United States, based on an analysis of data gathered from users’ restaurant reviews.

“To name this year’s top U.S. destinations for foodies, our Data Science team looked for the cities that had the highest restaurant ratings from out-of-towners and then took a look at what visitors were loving on Yelp,” the company said. “We limited this year’s list to cities with populations under 250,000 that have must-know food scenes.”

San Luis Obispo ranked No. 3 on the list and was the only California city on the list.

Taking No. 1 was Asheville, North Carolina, folled by two Hawaiian Islands that were ranked together.

“Nestled along the Central California Coast, San Luis Obispo is home to a booming foodie scene, bolstered by new additions like SLO Provisions and Park 1039,” Yelp wrote in the rankings. “Yelpers love dishes like tri-tip sandwiches and bread bowls at beloved spots like Old SLO BBQ and Mo’s Smokehouse BBQ.”
