Bored with Thanksgiving turkey? Spice it up with ... Flamin’ Hot Cheetos?

This isn’t your parents’ Thanksgiving turkey.

Reynolds Kitchens, the company known for kitchen supplies like aluminum foil and freezer bags, gained national attention recently when its website offered a rather unique take on a Thanksgiving classic: Coating your holiday bird with crushed-up chips.

The website offers recipes for “Hot Turkey,” “Ranch Flavored” and “Onion Flavored” turkey dinners to provide a truly novel — some might say nauseating — Thanksgiving dinner.

But there’s no reason to stick to Frito-Lay classics like Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, Cool Ranch Doritos or Funyuns. Why not go local with San Luis Obispo-based Taco Works chips?

You could go with a Salsa turkey or perhaps the Hot Nacho turkey.

As for the bird itself, you can find a list of local farms on www.agrilicious.org, including BeeWench Farm, which was launched in 2009.
