SLO County burger restaurant closes. Now it’s looking for a new home

Faced with the end of a lease and surrounded by the noise and disruption of ongoing construction, the owners of the popular Beach Burger cafe in Morro Bay decided instead to close and look for another location.

Fernando Angiano and Kristien Ryder still have plenty to keep them busy. They also own and operate Laguna Grill in San Luis Obispo and Morro Grill in Morro Bay.

Beach Burger had been located in the brick-pillared building at 571 Embarcadero Suite C, a couple of hundred feet from the Morro Bay Yacht Club.

Angiano and Ryder thought they’d found a new Beach Burger site earlier this year, he told The Tribune, but right before the deal was ready to close, the location sold.

After that negotiating hiccup, a new Beach Burger won’t happen this year, Angiano said. “A lot of these locations are pretty old and require a lot of reconstruction.”

Nevertheless, they want to keep Beach Burger in Morro Bay, Angiano said.

As is the case with their other eateries, a lot of their clientele is local.

“We focus on quality, not premade or frozen,” he said.
