A San Luis Obispo sweet spot favorite just opened a new North County location.
SloDoCo, which closed the doors of its Atascadero location in May, officially launched a new store in Paso Robles on Friday, offering a new way for North County customers to get their daily doughnut and coffee fix.
And Friday’s grand opening saw a steady stream of customers — many of whom were regulars at the former Atascadero location, according to business manager Laura Krause.
“We’ve had a really warm welcome from the community,” Krause told The Tribune. “Everything has gone really smooth, and we enjoy being in Paso already.”
One of those regulars, Gina Foster, visited the grand opening on Friday with her family. She told The Tribune she used to drive to Atascadero regularly for the doughnuts but is happy because the Paso location is in a better location for her family.
“The doughnuts are so much better. They’re so soft. ... The flavor is better,” Foster said. “And our kids love coming to pick out the different like patterns and, like, holiday doughnuts.”
Krause said she’d encourage people to visit SloDoCo because the store offers “something for everybody.”
“We’re really unique,” she said. “We have a wide variety of flavors, drinks and stuff like that. We try to keep up with the trends, and it’s not like a normal pink box doughnut shop.”
The Paso Robles shop is located at 2110 Spring St. It is open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., according to its website.
Popular SLO doughnut chain plans expansion outside Central Coast
With two locations in SLO and one in Goleta, the new Paso Robles store is SloDoCo’s latest expansion.
But Krause said another California location is in the works — this time, outside of the Central Coast.
“The hospitality people show us whatever city we pop up in makes us feel really welcome and makes us want to keep doing what we’re doing,” Krause said. “Chico is next.”
The Chico location is still in the early stages of planning, Krause said.
She did not disclose a projected opening date.
