Ready for happy hour? Michelin-recognized downtown SLO restaurant adds special menu

For nibblers, cocktail connoisseurs and those that want to try everything on the menu, the new happy hour at Nate’s on Marsh is calling.

Nate’s on Marsh in downtown San Luis Obispo has recently introduced a brand-new happy hour, focusing on elevated small dishes and the fan-favorite zucchini fries.

The happy hour runs from 3 to 4:30 p.m. from Thursday to Monday, where customers can enjoy discounted drinks and small meals.

Items on the happy hour menu include the prawns piccata, pancetta-wrapped prawns, a porchetta slider, a fennel-roasted pork belly slider and spiedini alla pomodoro, an elevated grilled cheese.

Specialty cocktails and wine are available for $10.

SLO restaurant leans into ‘spaghetti cowboy’ ambiance

Recognized by the Michelin Guide, Nate’s on Marsh is located in a historic 1908 colonial bungalow with a rich local legacy.

The menu features classics with an elevated twist, such as rigatoni bolognese and wild arugula salad.

Coining a “spaghetti cowboy” ambiance inside the restaurant, owner Nathan Long said he wanted to keep the Italian spirit of its predecessor, Gennaro’s Grill and Garden, while adding a California mood.

“There was this undertone of Italian restaurants already there,” Long said. “I wanted to keep it in that same vein, which aligned perfectly with this project anyway. We took this kind of contemporary American approach, but I really wanted to lean into this Italian spirit or soul which had been there for years prior.”

Long had heard from other restaurant owners that if he can get to year three, it is a good sign for the business — and Nate’s on Marsh just celebrated its three-year anniversary.

More promotions ahead

Beyond the happy hour, the restaurant hosts Martini Mondays, where martini cocktails are $10 all day, and Wine Night on Thursdays, where any bottle of wine under $100 is 50% off.

Nate’s on Marsh is also looking forward to partnering with Scarborough Affair for a pop up shop on Dec. 7 at 975 Osos St., where floral arrangements and the restaurant’s core collection of T-shirts, hats and cozies will be available.
