SloDoCo opens its first doughnut shop outside San Luis Obispo County
The doughnuts have dropped.
SloDoCo doughnuts — of all types, flavors and colors — have arrived in Santa Barbara County.
The San Luis Obispo-based shop quietly opened Wednesday in the Target Shopping Center in Goleta after a long buildup and anticipation.
“We are so excited to be finally open,” business manager Laura Krause said. “We are extremely grateful for the warm welcome that Goleta has given us that past two days.”
The shop is at 290 Storke Road in Goleta and is open 24 hours.
Flavors include lavender, mint matcha, vanilla, strawberry, maple, devil’s food and much more.
In addition to the doughnuts, the store has free WiFi and a full espresso bar that serves everything from matcha lattes to cold brew.
“We have over 100 varieties of doughnuts to choose from daily, including fun, rotating monthly specials,” Krause said.
For decades, the site was a mattress store.
“We are hoping this will be a fun hangout spot for both families and students,” Krause said.
There are about 18 tables for sitting, including a large conference table where anyone can hold a study group or meetings. There’s also a seating area with three leather couches in front of a large bookcase that’s filled with books and games.
“Come on in, Goleta,” Krause said. “Grab a hot cup of coffee, a fresh doughnut and make yourself at home.”
SloDoCo was founded in 2010 in San Luis Obispo by husband and wife Jacob and Jessie Pickering. They met at a doughnut shop. The company has three other locations — two in San Luis Obispo and one in Atascadero.
