SloDoCo opening its first doughnut shop outside San Luis Obispo County. Here’s where

SloDoCo is expanding its brand outside San Luis Obispo County for the first time and will soon be selling its creative doughnuts at a new shop in Goleta.

“We like to bend the rules on doughnuts, see what we can come up with and how extreme we can get,” said Laura Krause, executive creative baker at SloDoCo. “We have over 100 doughnut options to choose from every day, plus a rotation monthly menu.”

The San Luis Obispo-based doughnut shop is moving into 290 Storke Road, the former site of Ortho Mattress. It expects to open in late summer.

SloDoCo was founded in 2010 by husband and wife Jacob and Jessie Pickering. They met at a doughnut shop, and their love for each other — and doughnut shops — “bloomed from there,” Krause said.

The company has three other locations — two in San Luis Obispo and one in Atascadero.

“Our doughnuts are fun, delicious and beautiful, to say the least,” Krause said. “We offer custom doughnuts, which are popular for weddings, birthdays, baby showers.”

She said people can give them a theme and they will go with it.

SloDoCo had been looking to expand outside of San Luis Obispo County, and “Goleta seemed like the perfect place,” she said.

“The location and city are beautiful, and we are so excited to finally sink our feet into the growing area,” Krause said.

The interior of the store is under construction, but the couple hope to open by late summer.
