A new Chipotle is coming to San Luis Obispo County. Where and when will it open?
A new Chipotle is coming to Atascadero next month.
The fast food Mexican grill is set to open at 6435 Morro Road on Oct. 17, according to its listing on Google Maps.
It will take over the former A&W Restaurant spot, after the nostalgic fast-food restaurant closed its doors in February 2022.
Since then, the site has been under construction as Chipotle transforms the lot into its latest location.
According to city planning documents, the company applied to convert the existing 1,938-square-foot A&W Restaurant building into a drive-through Chipotle, while adding a new 685-square-foot outdoor dining patio and expanding existing trash enclosure facilities.
Chipotle is also in the process of hiring employees for the new location, with pay starting at $16 per hour, according to a job listing announcement.
The new spot likely won’t be unfamiliar to local customers: Chipotle has more than 3,200 restaurants in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Germany, and recently began an expansion into other international markets, according to its website.
The Atascadero spot will be the fourth Chipotle location in San Luis Obispo County. The other locations are in Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles.
A request for comment from Chipotle representatives was not immediately returned Monday.
