A popular Pismo Beach burger joint is opening a second San Luis Obispo County location.

Brooks Burgers, which opened in 2017 in Pismo Beach, will open its new eatery in a 3,100-square-foot space at San Luis Obispo Public Market at Bonetti Ranch, the recently launched commercial complex at the corner of Tank Farm Road and South Higuera Street.

The second Brooks Burgers spot is located near Tractor Supply Co., facing the store.

Brooks Burgers co-owner Randy Brooks, whose son Luke runs the Pismo Beach restaurant, said the San Luis Obispo location is anticipated to open in about six months after permitting and tenant improvements are completed.

The Brooks have been in the restaurant and cattle industries for more than 40 years, bringing “four generations of expertise to the table,” according to the business’ website.

“We’ve really focused on bringing a high-level quality burger to SLO County, and will continue to do that at our new location,” Randy Brooks said.

In addition to burgers, the menu at the SLO Public Market location will feature tri tip, salads and local craft beers and wine. Also available will be Brooks Cider, a new addition to Brooks Burgers’ offerings.

“We also have two to three daily features on top of our regular menu,” Brooks said, such as a “locals favorite” burger that allows customers to choose their own toppings.

Brooks Brothers’ new SLO Public Market spot will have 65 to 70 seats indoors, with additional patio seating outdoors, Brooks said.

The restaurant chain expects to hire for 20 to 30 positions, starting about two to three months before the San Luis Obispo location opens.

Orangetheory Fitness was the first tenant to officially open at SLO Public Market, launching on June 26.

Incoming tenants include shops offering coffee, cheese, ice cream, chocolates and craft spirits, property owner Taylor Judkins said.

A Thai noodle bar, a bao bun eatery and a restaurant serving classic American fare are also in store.

SLO Public Market has roughly three open spaces available to lease, but the rest have been leased, according to market officials.

The market doesn’t have an exact date yet when the next businesses will open, but officials expect that to happen sometime this month.
