Pink-haired pop icon Cyndi Lauper will perform in Paso Robles this fall.
Lauper will stop Sept. 27 at Vina Robles Amphitheatre on her Detour tour. She’s returning to the Central Coast after a five-year hiatus, having played the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez in 2010.
Lauper sailed to success in the 1980s on a string of chart-topping hits including “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” “Time After Time,” “She Bop” and “True Colors.”
The winner of two Grammy Awards, she’s garnered a host of other honors for her work, including an Emmy Award for her guest turn on the television show “Mad About You.” In 2013, she won the Tony Award for her original score for the musical “Kinky Boots,” becoming the first woman to sweep the category by herself.
Lauper’s latest album, “Detour,” finds the singer putting her unmistakable spin on classic country songs from the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s with the help of country stars including Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris and Willie Nelson. It hits stores May 6.
Tickets for Lauper’s Sept. 27 concert cost $48.50 to $73.50, and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.
