Filmed Garth Brooks concert is coming to SLO’s Sunset Drive-in — for one night only
The coronavirus pandemic has canceled live music events for the time being, but here’s some good news for country music fans: Garth Brooks is performing a filmed concert that will be shown on the big screen at the Sunset Drive-in for one night only.
The country music star — who sold out two shows at the 2017 Mid-State Fair in a matter of seconds — will perform for a concert screening at 300 drive-in theaters across the United States and Canada, including in San Luis Obispo, according to a news release.
The Sunset Drive-in will have two showings of the Garth Brooks Drive-in Concert Experience on Saturday, June 27. The concert, which won’t be performed live, will be played at 8:30 p.m. and again at 11 p.m., according to the Sunset Drive-in.
“This drive-in concert allows us all to get back to playing live music without the uncertainty of what would be the result to us as a community,” Brooks said in a statement announcing the show. “This is old school, new school, and perfect for the time we are in.”
The concert was produced by Encore Live and will adhere to guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according to the Sunset Drive-in’s Facebook post.
Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Friday for $100 per passenger car or truck. No more than six people can be in one vehicle, according to Ticketmaster.com. No refunds will be given.
According to the event page, no alcohol will be permitted and parking is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Attendees should have hand sanitizer and masks available.
