The California Mid-State Fair is seeking contestants for its pageant this summer in Paso Robles.

In order to compete for the title of Miss California Mid-State Fair on July 19, contestants must be current San Luis Obispo County residents between the ages of 17 and 22 who have never been married. They will compete in five categories: interview, platform, talent, swimsuit and evening wear.

If selected as queen or princess, the contestants must attend the fair each day of its run, from July 20 to 31, and participate in public functions such as introducing performers. In return, they’ll receive prizes from local businesses.

Last year, Riley Shannon, then an 18-year-old sophomore at Cal Poly, was crowned as queen. Her platform was titled “Bushels of Fun – Agriculture Education for Children Affected by Domestic Violence.”

An orientation meeting will be April 6 at the Paso Robles Event Center, 2198 Riverside Ave. in Paso Robles. Applications are due April 15 and are available at the Paso Robles Event Center or online at www.midstatefair.com.
