Here are a few of the highlights at this year’s San Luis Obispo International Film Festival, which runs Wednesday through Sunday at venues throughout San Luis Obispo County.

WEDNESDAY
“Starring Adam West”
What: Filmmaker James Tooley’s documentary charts the life and career of “Batman” star Adam West. This screening is paired with a question-and-answer session and award ceremony.

THURSDAY
“Metropolis”
What: Considered one of the classics of the silent era, Fritz Lang’s groundbreaking film is set in a futuristic city divided between the haves and have nots. German pianist Markus Horn will accompany the movie live.

“Running for Jim”
What: This inspiring documentary chronicles high school cross-country coach Jim Tracy, his team and his battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease. Also screening is the short documentary “Running Blind” about a marathon runner with a rare degenerative eye disease.

FRIDAY
“Spartacus”
What: Stanley Kubrick’s stirring historical epic stars Kirk Douglas as a gladiator who leads a violent rebellion in ancient Rome. Winner of four Oscars, the film features a scene filmed at Hearst Castle in San Simeon.

Surf Nite in SLO
What: Rock band Honk will provide the live soundtrack during this special screening of the seminal surf movie “Five Summer Stories.”

SATURDAY
“The Last Days of Cinerama” and “How the West Was Won”
What: This tribute to the short-lived widescreen format known as Cinerama includes a discussion with filmmaker Robert Garren and former child star Stanley Livingston, and screenings of the short documentary “The Last Days of Cinerama” and the Western “How the West was Won.”
When: 10 a.m.

George Sidney Independent Film Awards and King Vidor award presentation
What: First up is a salute to independent filmmakers. Then actor James Cromwell takes the stage to honor Oscar winner Jeff Bridges with the King Vidor Career Achievement Award.

SUNDAY
“Anita”
What: More than 20 years later, this documentary looks back at Anita Hill’s testimony before Congress that then-U.S. Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas had sexually harassed her. Filmmaker Freida Lee Mock will participate in a panel discussion following the screening.

Central Coast Filmmaker Awards and “The Face of Love”
What: Local moviemakers are honored, followed by a sneak preview of the romantic drama “The Face of Love,” starring Annette Bening as a widow who meets a man who looks exactly like her deceased husband (Ed Harris).
