JAY-Z adds London date to his 30th anniversary concert series
JAY-Z has added a London show as a part of his 30th anniversary concert series.
The Grammy-winning rapper, who recently adopted the stylized name JAŸ-Z in a nod to his 1996 debut album "Reasonable Doubt," will now perform at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sept. 4 for one night only.
The concert is the latest addition to his JAŸ-30 concert series, which commemorates the 30th anniversary of his debut album and the 25th anniversary of his sixth studio album "Blueprint," released Sept. 11, 2001.
Previously, the rapper and husband to Beyoncé Knowles-Carter announced two additional shows in Los Angeles and in Paris were added to the lineup. The European show will take place Thursday, Sept. 10. The West Coast performance is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 23.
The added date marks the rapper's first solo headline show in the UK in over a decade and falls on Beyoncé's 45th birthday. The "Cowboy Carter" creator last performed at the same stadium on her "Cowboy Carter and Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour" last June.
In a matter of days, he is set to take the stage for three major shows in his hometown of New York City.
On July 10, he will celebrate "Reasonable Doubt" with a concert at Yankee Stadium. This will be followed a show for "The Blueprint" on July 11. A third "EXTRA INNINGS" show was added on July 12 to combine both shows due to high demand.
Released by his label Roc-A-Fella Records in June 1996 and featuring collaborations with the likes of Mary J. Blige, The Notorious B.I.G. and Jaz-O, "Reasonable Doubt" has been heralded by some critics as one of the greatest albums of all time.
Meanwhile, "The Blueprint," which spent three weeks on the Billboard 200, is similarly regarded as one of the best works in the rap genre. In 2018, the record (Jay-Z's sixth LP) was inducted into the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry.
The rap titan has already begun taking over stages with his anniversary performances.
JAŸ-Z recently delivered an unforgettable set during The Roots Picnic on Saturday, May 30, in Philadelphia. It was his first solo headlining performance in years. During his performance, the MC set aside time to share his thoughts on apparent spats with a few fellow rappers in a new freestyle.
