Collin Gosselin's New Book to Reveal What Really Happened in His Childhood

Collin Gosselin is ready to share his side of the story once and for all in a personal new read.

Us Weekly can exclusively reveal the cover of his new book, titled In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood.

"My life was always broadcast to millions, but what was actually happening in my life was never shown - in fact, much of it was deliberately kept hidden," Gosselin, 21, exclusively shares with Us. "For years, other people told my story through headlines, television episodes and public speculation."

That's about to change as the former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star has the opportunity to share his story in his own words.

"Now, finally, I'm sharing what was really happening behind the scenes," he teases. "This book is about truth, survival, resilience and finding my voice after years of being silenced. If my story helps even one person feel less alone or gives them the courage to tell their own, then every difficult page was worth writing."

Collin appeared alongside his seven siblings and parents, Jon Gosselin and Kate Gosselin, on TLC's Jon & Kate Plus 8 for much of his toddlerhood through adolescence.

Even when his parents divorced in 2009, Collin remained on TV thanks to Kate Plus 8.

He later moved in with his father full time and began speaking out about the alleged abuse he experienced from his mother. (Kate's lawyer shared in a 2024 interview with Fox News that she would not be responding to the allegations.)

In the Shadow of Eight, which is available for preorder online now, Collin is expected to share his truth about growing up in the spotlight and reveal new details about his life once cameras stopped rolling. (Currently, he is estranged from his mom and many of his siblings who remain close to Kate.)

"Collin is finally sharing the truth about being held down, the basement cell where he was hidden for years and the cocktail of powerful antipsychotics forced on an 11-year-old boy," the publisher teases in the book's description. "This is a reckoning with the dark side of fame: the systems, the entourage, and the institutions that allowed one boy to be erased."

Since stepping away from reality TV, Collin has tried to keep his life off social media and away from the public eye.

In an August 2025 TikTok video, the former TLC star explained his mindset at this chapter in his life.

"As you can see, I don't post on Instagram, I don't post on TikTok much," he said. "I'm still getting in the groove of things, but, you know, I've realized I love to share my videos with you guys. … Unfortunately, I don't talk to my siblings, and I very much wish that we did and that they knew who I actually was because we don't know each other at all."

Collin's siblings and the world can read more when In the Shadow of Eight is available on October 13.
