Gen.G CEO Arnold Speaks Out on Kiin's 2026 Asian Games Snub

Gen.G CEO Arnold Hur has spoken out following South Korea's 2026 Asian Games League of Legends roster announcement. In a post shared on his official X account, Arnold discussed the selection process. He addressed the exclusion of Gen.G's top laner Kim "Kiin" Gi-in and questioned the evaluation approach used in the final decision.

Arnold said he wanted to be direct with fans about his thoughts on Kiin's absence. As part of his statement, he pointed to the published selection criteria as the basis for his concerns.

According to Arnold, the final decisions relied on detailed individual metrics after the achievement-based shortlist. These included stats such as solo kills, DPM, DPG, gold difference at 14 minutes, and CS difference at 14 minutes.

Arnold argued these numbers naturally increase when a team is built around a player, and drop when resources are sacrificed elsewhere. According to him, this creates a distorted view of individual performance.

He described Kiin as a top laner who prioritizes team structure over personal statistics. In many games, Kiin plays weak side, takes difficult matchups, and gives up draft priority for teammates.

Arnold also noted that Kiin frequently gives teammates access to resources and comfort picks. According to him, that naturally lowers Kiin's individual statistical output.

As a result, Arnold argued this type of impact is not properly reflected in the listed metrics. He also pointed to champion pool size as part of the selection criteria. In Arnold's view, that category should favor a player like Kiin. Throughout his career, Kiin has been known for his flexibility and wide champion pool.

Despite his criticism of the selection process, Arnold made it clear that the issue was not with the players selected. He specifically described Zeus as a world-class player who deserved his spot on the roster. Instead, Arnold said the problem lies in how the evaluation framework measures player value. He argued that statistical models need more context when used in roster decisions like these.

To close his statement, Arnold urged fans to continue supporting Kiin. He said Kiin's impact often shows more in team success than individual numbers.
