Kim Kardashian Shuts Down Mackenzie Shirilla's Request for Legal Help

Mackenzie Shirilla has expressed an interest in having Kim Kardashian help her out with her case, but the socialite and aspiring lawyer is declining the offer.

In a jailhouse call obtained by PEOPLE, Shirilla, who was convicted of murdering her boyfriend and his friend in a car crash, said that she wants Kardashian to be her lawyer.

The call came from Cuyahoga County Corrections Center in Ohio where Shirilla and another unidentified person spoke about "the media attention surrounding her case." And with that, she thought Kardashian might have seen the coverage.

"Well, maybe Kim Kardashian's seen," Shirilla says on the call.

"Yeah, maybe Kim will, now that it's, like, all over. I was like, I mean, that's the only thing that might be good about the whole media thing. Maybe Kim will see it," the other person on the line adds.

"I don't know. You have to figure out because I'm real nervous and I want Kim Kardashian to be my lawyer," Shirilla states.

"As the call continues, the other person says, 'We're gonna have her get you out,' prompting Mackenzie to add, referring to the shapewear brand, 'Tell her I buy all her SKIMS and I only wear SKIMS,' PEOPLE writes.

However, TMZ reports that Kardashian has declined.

Kardashian has been actively pursuing a legal career, but has struggled and been unable to pass the California bar exam. But, she has continued to use her passion for the law as well as her platform to advocate "for those she believes have been wrongfully convicted, as well as incarcerated people who have demonstrated rehabilitation."

As for Shirilla, she is serving two concurrent sentences of 15 years to life after she was convicted in August 2023 of murder, aggravated vehicular homicide, and other charges. Her case was documented on a recent Netflix documentary "The Crash," which featured interviews with Shirilla, her family, and the victims' families.
