'Price Tag' Singer Just Announced She's Cancer-Free One Year After Diagnosis: 'I Sobbed for Hours'
Jessie J is cancer-free.
The British singer-songwriter, 38, shared the news in an emotional Instagram video posted Thursday, May 21, nearly one year after publicly revealing her breast cancer diagnosis. "RESULTS ARE IN AND I AM CANCER FREE!!" she wrote in the caption. "I sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year." She said the update followed a breast MRI and a yearly checkup.
A Year of Lows and Highs
Jessie J first announced her diagnosis in June 2025. She had been "going back and forth" over whether to share the news, she said at the time, but wanted to "share it with my fans." She underwent a right-side mastectomy that summer and received the all-clear from her doctor in July.
In late August, she announced she would need a follow-up surgery and cancelled the U.S. leg of her "No Secrets" tour to accommodate it. The "Price Tag" singer returned to the stage that September at BBC Radio 2 in the Park festival in Chelmsford, Essex. It was the first time her 2-year-old son saw her perform live. The follow-up procedure was postponed in October after a change in her surgeon.
Before performing her single "Living My Best Life" at the festival, she addressed the audience. "I'm just so grateful to be here," she said. She told fans she had been diagnosed two weeks before that song's release and rejected advice to put everything on hold. "Life is about standing in the storm but holding up your umbrella," she said.
What's Next
Jessie J released her sixth studio album, Don't Tease Me With a Good Time, on Nov. 28, 2025. It was her first record in eight years and the first she dropped since parting ways with Republic Records, self-releasing it through Darco Artist Partnerships and her own self-titled label. Her acoustic "No Secrets" tour ran rescheduled U.K. and European dates this April, while her upcoming summer schedule includes a festival stop on July 16 in Wolfsburg, Germany.
