Dozens of film productions shot in SLO County in 2025. See who came here

“Lights, camera, action!” was a frequent refrain heard across San Luis Obispo County in 2025 as dozens of film productions came here to shoot digital videos, television shows and commercials.

In 2025, 44 productions spent a total of 73 days shooting in SLO County, according to a news release from Film SLO CAL, the county’s official film commission.

The commission said productions picked the county for its scenic and diverse views, easy access and welcoming community.

“Filmmakers are drawn to SLO CAL for its distinctive backdrops and the support they receive from our partners and the community along the way,” Matt Halvorson, film commissioner at Film SLO CAL, said in the release. “By working closely with a variety of permitting and destination partners across the county, and drawing on our deep local knowledge, we are proud to help bring these creative projects to life.”

What was filmed in SLO County last year?

Film SLO CAL highlighted several big-budget commercial and TV productions shot across the county in 2025.

In mid-March, a cinematic car shoot showcasing the Audi Q5 used SLO County’s rolling hills and scenic roads as its backdrop, the release said.

The commercial production took place on Garden Street and at Hotel SLO, as well as along stretches of Highway 1, including Morro Bay, San Simeon and Ragged Point, according to Film SLO CAL.

Bravo TV’s “Vanderpump Rules” filmed in SLO County for four days last May. The stars of the reality television series romped around Paso Robles wine county, hitting up Rava Wines, Tobin James and DAOU Vineyards, according to the release.

The cast also ventured around San Luis Obispo, visiting the Madonna Inn, the Downtown SLO Farmers Market, Luna Red and Black Sheep.

In October, Toyota and Univision teamed up to shoot the “Made to Conquer” digital campaign at the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area, which serves as “California’s only drivable state beach and a key filming location in the county,” the release said.

MrBeast, the YouTube content creator with the most subscribers in the world, also filmed in SLO County in 2025.

He made a YouTube video with Jetson One highlighting the startup’s “flying cars.”

The digital production shot at Chapman Estate, Dinosaur Caves Park, Pismo Pier and the Fin’s Restaurant parking lot in Grover Beach, according to the news release.
