These SLO County businesses, bars are closed due to coronavirus

With three confirmed cases of coronavirus in the community, and more expected to test positive in the coming days, San Luis Obispo County is buckling down as it prepares for a potential outbreak.

Districts across the county announced multi-week school closures Friday, while cities announced halts to recreation programs and facilities closures.

The San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department has issued an emergency order prohibiting the sale of alcohol at bars and restaurants through Wednesday, to try to discourage public gatherings over the St. Patrick’s Day holiday.

Meanwhile, several local stores, movie theaters and museums have announced closures. Here’s a list of those businesses, organized by city.

Arroyo Grande

Bill’s Place in the Village of Arroyo Grande will close Monday at 5 p.m. through Wednesday at noon, to adhere to the county’s prohibition on alcohol sales over the St. Patrick’s Day holiday.

CYB Studios announced it would stop all its cycling, yoga and Barre classes, effective Monday. The gym did not say when it will reopen, but a Facebook post on its page indicated its instructors are working to get pre-recorded classes online and live classes broadcast from in studio without participants.

Ralph and Duane’s will be closed in the Village of Arroyo Grande “until further notice,” according to a Facebook post Monday. Its St. Patrick’s Day parade and party will be postponed until April.

Regal Cinemas will shut down all locations, including the Regal Arroyo Grande, starting Tuesday. The company did not provide a reopening date.

South County Historical Society Museums are closed until further notice.

Atascadero

Hop’s Bounce House is closed until April, the indoor bounce house business said via Facebook. “April’s future will be determined as time goes,” the business said.

Thrive Training Center Inc. has closed both its Atascadero and Paso Robles gymnastics gyms through March 29.

Avila Beach

Central Coast Aquarium is closed in Avila Beach, but is offering free activity booklets for download for families who are stuck at home. You can request a booklet by emailing info@centralcoastaquarium.com

Cayucos

Brown Butter Cookie Co. has closed the doors at all three of its locations — San Luis Obispo, Cayucos, Paso Robles — until further notice.

Grover Beach

Pacific Flips has closed its gymnastics studio in Grover Beach and Santa Maria until March 29.

Morro Bay

California State Parks is temporarily closing the Spooner Ranch House Visitor Center at Montaña de Oro State Park near Los Osos and the Morro Bay Museum of Natural History in Morro Bay State Park.

The agency said the parks “remain open for all other activities such as hiking, biking, horseback riding, beach activities, and camping.”

Paso Robles

The Paso Robles Children’s Museum has closed in tandem with local schools and the San Luis Obispo Children’s Museum. “We will be monitoring the situation closely to determine when the museum will reopen,” organizers said via Facebook.

Effective Monday, Estrella Warbirds Museum and Woodland Auto Display is closing its doors for “a minimum of the next two weeks,” the museum announced in a news release.

Studios on the Park will be closed through March 31, the art studio collective said in a news release Monday. All Kids Art Smart classes, workshops and guild gatherings will be canceled during that time.

Pismo Beach

Levi Strauss & Co will close its United States and Canada stores through March 27, including its location in the Pismo Beach Premium Outlets.

Nike has announced it will closes all its stores in the United States, Canada, Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand through March 27. This includes outlet locations, such as the Nike Factory Store and Converse Factory Store in the Pismo Beach Premium Outlets.

San Luis Obispo

The Palm Theatre is closing its doors until further notice, the arthouse movie theater announced via Facebook. “We will re-open when it is safe to do so and will keep you informed as much as possible.”

REI Co-Op is closing all 162 of its retail stores, including its location in San Luis Obispo, until March 27. All orders through REI.com will get free shipping while the stores are closed, the company says.

Apple is closing all of its retail stores outside of Greater China until March 27, the company announced Friday. This includes its Higuera Street location in San Luis Obispo.

Lululemon is closing its North American and Europe stores through March 27, including in downtown San Luis Obispo.

Lush Cosmetics is closing all 258 of its United States and Canada location through March 29.

Abercrombie & Fitch closed all its stores outside of the Asia-Pacific region from March 15 through March 28, including its downtown San Luis Obispo location. The online store will continue to operate during that time.

SLO Movement Arts Center has canceled all its classes “until at least the end of March” in line with local school districts, universities and dance studios, the dance studio said. SLOMAC staff said they’re “filming a series of classes for each level tailored to dancing in the home environment” that will be distributed to studio clientele.

Urban Outfitters will close its 600 stores until March 28, including its San Luis Obispo location. Its online and subscription businesses will continue to operate.

The History Center of San Luis Obispo County in San Luis Obispo will be closed for at least two weeks, through the end of March, the nonprofit said in a news release.

The San Luis Obispo Children’s Museum will be closed through at least March 31 “while local schools are in recess in response to COVID-19 concerns,” the museum said.

Meanwhile, the museum is launching its Busy Box program, featuring free boxes filled with crafts, science projects and games for children and their families.

Central Coast Gymnastics Sports Center is closed until March 29, the gym announced Sunday night.

Finders Keepers Consignment has temporarily closed its doors, the clothing store said in an email to customers Monday.

Brown Butter Cookie Co.has closed the doors at all three of its locations — San Luis Obispo, Cayucos, Paso Robles — until further notice.

Luis Wine Bar on Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo has closed “until the coronavirus threat is minimized,” according to a Facebook post Sunday.

Office Hours clothing store in downtown San Luis Obispo has closed its brick and mortar store indefinitely, and is instead focusing on selling its products online.

Blackwater clothing and accessory store will close temporarily, according to a Facebook post Monday. The store will offer free shipping on all orders, as well as curbside pickup, according to the post.

The Junk Girls will close in San Luis Obispo for the next two weeks, but has launched its online store offering free shipping, curbside pick up and flash sales, according to a Facebook post.

HumanKind Fair Trade has temporarily closed its shop in San Luis Obispo. Its online store will remain open.

Downtown Centre Cinemas in San Luis Obispo is closed until further notice, according to a phone recording Monday.

Sephora is temporarily shuttering all its North American stores, including its San Luis Obispo location, starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, the beauty product retailer told customers in an email Monday.

Luna Red in San Luis Obispo has closed temporarily to comply with Gov. Gavin Newsom’s orders to enact social distancing rules. Management says they expect to reopen April 6. The tapas-style eatery’s sister restaurant, Novo, will stay open but does have some operational changes in light of the outbreak.

The Sunset Drive-In has closed “until the CDC issues an all clear to go back to business as we know it,” the drive-in movie theater announced via Facebook on Monday. “We will also be posting information for the Sunday Super Swap Meet in the next few days as we find out what is the best thing to do,” the Sunset Drive-In said.

San Simeon

California State Parks has closed Hearst Castle and the Hearst Castle visitors center. All planned tours have been suspended.
