See beautiful, picture-perfect Christmas time moment aglow in Truckee, California

A breathtaking moment is captured on camera as snow blankets homes and Christmas lights glow in Truckee, California over the weekend.

Video footage by Geoff Millikan on Saturday night, Dec. 14, 2024 shows the beautiful wintry scene along Donner Pass Road in downtown, which is lit up with holiday decorations.

Heavy snow covered the Lake Tahoe region.

At Palisades Tahoe, near Truckee, the skies dumped 17 inches of snow on Sunday alone, bringing the storm total at that ski resort, since Friday, to 43 inches, and to 102 inches for the entire season so far.

Another smaller storm system rolled into Northern California on Monday. For the Greater Lake Tahoe area, the National Weather Service called for scattered snow showers in the morning, then showers in the afternoon.

Snow level was forecast to rise to 6,500 feet, with 1 to 3 inches of accumulation. Southwest winds around the region were expected to blow 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Ridge gusts may be as high as 95 mph.

On Sunday, the National Weather Service issued a back-country avalanche warning for the Lake Tahoe region, urging caution for outdoor activities and traveling.
