Hunting: Final days of Holiday Hunt produced little

The final three days of the Holiday Hunt at Camp Roberts produced little in the way of game and a drop-off in the number of hunters.

The harvest included 26 quail, four waterfowl, four cottontail rabbits and one wild pig. The pig’s whole weight was 180 pounds. Eighty-four adults and eight junior hunters were on base Dec. 29-31.

The harvest for the full 11 days of the hunt was 107 quail, 100 dove, 27 waterfowl, nine cottontail rabbits, four jackrabbits and seven wild pigs. The heaviest field dressed pig weighed 125 pounds.

The number of hunters was 342 adults and 51 juniors. There were 34 guests.
