Fishing: Lintner moves up to second at Clear Lake

KELSEYVILLE — Although Arroyo Grande’s Jared Lintner moved into second place on Day 2 of the FLW National Guard bass tournament Thursday, he fell farther off the lead.

Lintner, a veteran of four seasons on the Bassmaster Elite pro tour, had the seventh best bag weight (21 pounds, 1 ounce) at Clear Lake, but heading into Day three Friday he trails Randy McAbee Jr. by 5 pounds, 11 ounces.

Lintner was 2 pounds, 14 ounces behind Bakersfield’s McAbee after Wednesday’s opener when he was in eighth place.

Only the top 10 on the leaderboard after Friday’s competition will qualify for the event’s championship round Saturday.

Lintner’s two-day weight is 41-7. McAbee, who has won several boats at Clear Lake by winning titles, leads with 10 fish totaling 46-7.

The other Central Coast pro entered here, Clark Small of Solvang, dropped from 19th place to 37th. His 13-14 limit Thursday gave him a two-day total of 32-11.

In the Co-Angler (amateur) division, Lompoc’s Ken Whalen advanced one spot to 32nd with a 6-fish weight of 19-4. Whitney Uyeda of Buellton caught no fish and skidded from 38th to 68th with a 9-1 total.  Grover Beach’s Andrew Levy slipped from 78th to 83rd with two fish, one each day, for a 4-12 total.
