Fishing: Lintner sits eighth at Clear Lake

KELSEYVILLE — Bassmaster Elite pro Jared Lintner had an eighth-place first day at Clear Lake in the FLW  National Guard bass tournament Thursday.

The Arroyo Grande angler had a 20-pound, 6-ounce limit and trails leader Randy McAbee of Bakersfield by 2-14.

Lintner is one of four Elite competitors in the field of 89 pros and co-anglers (amateurs).

Central Coast pro Clark Small of Solvang opened with an 18-13 limit, good for 18th place.

Three Central Coast amateurs are in the field. Lompoc’s Ken Whalen ranks 33rd with a weight of 9-6 for three fish, Whitney Uyeda of Buellton is 38th with a 9-1 bag for four fish, and Andrew Levy of Grover Beach is 78th with a 2-1 weight for one fish.

The tournament ends Saturday.
