Coast Union High football team wins in last minute

Roberto Quintero's 37-yard field goal with less than a minute to play lifted the Coast Union High football team to a 31-29 win over Valley Christian Academy on Friday night in Santa Maria.

It was the Broncos' first made field goal of the season, Cambrian reporter John FitzRandolph said.

Alam Ramirez had 208 yards rushing, including a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Jack MacKinnon had 112 yards passing, throwing touchdown passes of 5 yards and 24 yards to Alexis Mireles. MacKinnon added a 1-yard touchdown run on a quarterback keeper.

Mireles had four catches for 48 yards, while Quintero added a team-high 53 yards on four catches.

Lane Sutherland recovered two fumbles for the Broncos (2-5, 2-0 Coast Valley League).
