The Arroyo Grande High boys volleyball team beat Hemet 3-0 at home in the second round of CIF Southern Section Division 3 playoffs Thursday as Keanu Morrison had 18 kills.
“Our players got consistent hitting, and setters moved the ball around making the difference,” Arroyo Grande coach Laurel Allen said.
The Eagles won 25-12, 25-18, 25-23 as Conner Howard and Ronan Paulson added 12 and six kills, respectively, while Brett MacDonald had 16 digs and Matt Wingerden had four blocks. Arroyo Grande (23-7-1) advances to play either Viewpoint or Quartz Hill in Saturday’s quarterfinals.

CIF-Southern Section Division 3 finals
Nipomo’s Austin Simpson placed third in the boys 500-yard freestyle in 4 minutes, 43.78 seconds while teammate Wyatt Marsalek finished seventh (4:48.42) at the Riverside Aquatics Complex.
Roger Kriegl of Moorpark won the event in 4:31.32.
Simpson also placed ninth in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.82), while Morro Bay’s 200 freestyle relay team finished 16th (1:35.18).
On the girls side, the Pirates’ Alissa Marvin placed 13th in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.04) and 17th in the 200 individual medley (2:16.69).
Templeton’s Amanda Wilson was 15th in the 50 freestyle (25.56) and teammate Sheridan Lee was 18th in the 500 freestyle (5:41.88).
The Eagles’ 200 freestyle relay placed 18th (1:48.6).
PAC 8 schools will be in the Division 2 preliminaries beginning today.
The Arroyo Grande at St. Joseph and Paso Robles at Righetti games were rained out and will be played today.
